Shielding only works when it is terminated. A foil wrap that stops at the cable jacket, or a drain wire that runs alongside the conductors instead of bonding to the shell, leaves the signal path exposed to whatever the cabinet is radiating.
On multi-pair assemblies, ask for matched pair lengths. Uncontrolled length differences translate directly into skew, which shows up as a link that trains on one machine and not on another.

Why does my camera link drop frames intermittently?
In most cases the shield is not terminated to the connector shell, or the pairs are not impedance-controlled through the termination. Check shield continuity end to end before replacing the camera.
What is the maximum length for a shielded assembly?
It depends on the interface and the environment. Tell us the protocol and the noise sources nearby and we will advise a practical limit rather than the theoretical maximum.
Can I get matched pair lengths?
Yes, and we recommend it for any multi-pair assembly carrying differential signals. Uncontrolled lengths produce skew.
