Quality control from incoming material onwards
Quality starts before assembly. Incoming housings, contacts, cable stock and plating are checked against specification on receipt, covering dimensional accuracy, plating thickness, insulation material and hardness. Suppliers are qualified against documented criteria, and material certificates are retained for traceability.
Because we manufacture rather than resell, incoming control is genuinely the first gate rather than a formality.
In-process inspection
Production runs through inspection at every station rather than one final check at the end. Each operation is verified before the batch moves on, so a drift in crimp height or a mis-loaded contact is corrected within the batch instead of being discovered after hundreds of assemblies are complete.
Checks at this stage include:
- Crimp height and pull-force verification
- Contact insertion and retention
- Pin-out and keying confirmation against the drawing
- Shield termination continuity to the shell
- Jacket and moulding integrity
Electrical testing laboratory
The in-house laboratory is staffed by qualified technicians and equipped to verify the parameters that actually predict field reliability:
- TDR impedance analysis — confirms characteristic impedance and locates impedance discontinuities along high-speed assemblies
- Hi-Pot (dielectric strength) testing — verifies insulation can withstand the rated voltage without breakdown
- Insulation resistance testing — confirms the 500 V DC insulation resistance specification is met
- Continuity and short testing — verifies every conductor is where the drawing says it is
- Insertion and withdrawal force testing — confirms mating forces stay within specification across the rated cycle count
Every unit in a production batch passes continuity, dielectric strength and insulation resistance checks. Destructive and sampling tests are applied where the specification calls for them.
Contact reliability and mating cycles
Contact resistance is the parameter most likely to drift silently. Plating quality, contact spring force and the geometry that holds the contact in place all affect it, and the effect compounds with every mating cycle.
Our high-density LFH designs are covered by utility model patents specifically for contact retention geometry, which keeps contact positions stable through the high cycle counts that automatic test equipment demands. Where a customer’s duty cycle is known, we test to it rather than to a generic figure.
Traceability and documentation
Every shipment includes a comprehensive test report covering the tests performed and their results. Where a project requires full batch traceability, joint sampling and sealing can be arranged so that the sealed sample and the delivered goods share a documented lineage.
Material compliance documentation — RoHS, REACH and UL recognition where applicable — is available on request for each part number. Change control is documented, so a customer with a validated design is notified before anything affects it.
What happens when something goes wrong
No quality system eliminates every defect, and the honest measure of one is how it responds. Verified quality issues are covered by a 30-day unconditional return policy with a full refund or replacement. Because we hold the tooling and the drawings, a corrective action can be implemented at the point of manufacture rather than negotiated with a supplier.
Customer feedback is reviewed on a scheduled basis and feeds directly into process changes — most of the improvements in our cable constructions over the years started as a complaint about something that failed in the field.
